The relandscaping of a nursery playground at Somerset Nursery in Battersea represents an inspiring transformation of a once plain, asphalt-dominated area into a dynamic, nature-rich learning environment.

Previously lacking stimulation, the space has been reimagined as an “Exciting Outdoor Living and Learning Area,” where children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and interact with nature.

The design incorporates natural materials, with most structures hand-built using recycled resources and sustainably sourced timber.

These elements provide opportunities for hands-on learning, allowing children to engage directly with growth cycles and food production. Secret play areas, shaded corners, and a “Magical Fantasy Nursery Pathway” further enhance imaginative play, creating a sense of adventure and discovery.
